You will not always have to become certified in computer sciences, but it is a good idea and may help you receive a job. There are many types of certification you can receive such as in Microsoft Technology. This certification can also help you specialize in a certain area.

As you begin working you will become more knowledgeable and better understand how to work as a computer consultant. If you want to become a self-employed consultant, begin working at a company to gain experience.
